Jala Jala Treats

Sharon Brindley is the proud Yamatji/Noongar Director of Jala Jala Treats, a business dedicated to the celebration of Australia's native flavours.

The creation of Jala Jala and the Cooee Café is an incredibly personal story, Sharon overcame many challenges and struggles in her life ultimately deciding to focus on the positives, follow her dreams and connect back to her culture and community to create the incredible business we see today. Sharon started her own takeaway shop, which evolved into Cooee Café. This business gave her the confidence to keep exploring her “love of cooking and knowledge of Indigenous ingredients”, leading her towards “having the confidence and foundation to create Jala Jala.”

Sharon shared “I am so proud of the woman I have now become, finally being able to show my kids, grandchildren, and community that there is hope and a way out and to break the cycle. I know that I am making my mother and grandmother proud because I am passing on my culture and by pulling in on their strengths, not focusing on my weaknesses.”
