Benita Cavenagh is part of a family who have strong ties to the land and to her family's traditional stories. She has painted for Keringke at various times during the years of the art centre operating at Ltyentye Apurte and is a fluid and talented artist. She is
well respected in her community and works on the local radio, keeping us all in touch over the air waves. Benita expresses an intense energy in her paintings which often offer a window into the depths of her cultural role and special knowledge. Benita's
country is all around what is known as Arltunga today. She has three dreamings: hailstone, rainbow and serpent. Benita is Ngangkere, and uses the healing powers of her country and culture to attend to people's illness.
